Magical Delicacy is a mix between a platformer and a cooking game. You will need to explore the world to collect ingredients, meet characters, take orders, and deliver them. The other half of the game is all about cooking using an extensive system.

Gameplay

The platforming aspect of the game is fairly basic Metroidvania-inspired. Nonetheless, the controls are fluid and feel good. Where the gameplay really shines, is in the cooking system of the game. You need to use different stations to process your ingredients. Choosing them based on their flavors and what the client wants. The clients will often have conditions that will force you to try new things and discover new recipes to fulfill their orders.

Art

The game has a detailed pixel art style which really goes well with the cozy cooking of the game and the platforming. The different sections of the map have their own ambiance. Some more gloomy, others more bright.

Story

Each character has a little story, some stories are bigger and connect to others. Something is intriguing about the witches of the island, a mysterious egg, and what is beyond the city.

Difficulty and Replayability

The difficulty is casual, and there is a setting to enable easy platforming. Because the game’s core is unlocking and discovering new things, replayability is low. Something I appreciated, is the fact that they have some pretty good accessibility settings. E.g. Fonts for Dyslexia.

Final Thoughts

Overall, I am always excited to try a new cooking game. There is so few quality ones out there and Magical Delicacy is one of them. Try it out if you enjoy cooking games, platformers, and exploration!
